Discord timestamp generator

Discord times that show up in every member's zone

Discord supports a special markdown tag — <t:UNIX:STYLE> — that auto-translates a single timestamp into every viewer's local timezone. Pick a date below, copy the markdown for the style you want, and paste it into your raid call, esports announcement, community AMA, or webhook payload. No more "9pm EST / 6pm PT / 2am GMT" lines.

The date and time are read as local time in the zone you pick. Changing the zone keeps the typed time and moves the moment the code points to.

The example below is 2027-01-01 00:00 UTC, as an English (US) Discord client set to UTC shows it. Viewers in other time zones see their own local time, and the exact wording depends on each viewer's Discord language setting. The relative example is measured from when this page was generated.

How to use

Three steps from picker to Discord post

  1. 1

Pick a time zone, then a date and time

Choose the time zone the event is announced in, then type its local date and time (or click "Now"). The generator turns that into a Unix timestamp: one moment, which Discord shows on every viewer's screen in their own time zone.

  2. 2

    Choose a style

All seven Discord styles are previewed live. Click the copy button next to whichever fits your message — short date for tables, full date-time for announcements, relative (:R) for live countdowns.

  3. 3

    Paste into Discord

Paste the <t:…:…> markdown directly into your Discord message, webhook payload, or bot reply. Every viewer sees the time in their own local zone, automatically — no math required.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are Discord timestamps and why use them?
Discord timestamps are a special markdown token (<t:UNIX:STYLE>) that Discord's client renders into the viewer's local timezone. Use them for raid times, esports streams, server events, AMA announcements, deadline reminders — anything where members across continents need to see the same moment in their own time without doing the math.
Does this generator work in DMs and threads?
Yes. The Discord timestamp tag renders identically in DMs, group chats, regular text channels, threads, voice-channel chat, forum posts, and stage-channel chat. The viewer's timezone is what determines the display, regardless of where the message is posted.
What timezone is used for the rendered display?
Each viewer's own device time zone. The tag stores a single moment (seconds since 1970 UTC), so a member in Tokyo and a member in Berlin see the same moment in their own local time. The time zone you select in this generator only says which zone the date and time you typed are in, and the preview is shown in that zone; the zone itself is not stored in the tag. If you change the zone after typing, the typed time stays and the moment changes.
Can I use Discord timestamps in webhooks and bot messages?
Yes. Webhook payloads and bot messages support the <t:UNIX:STYLE> markdown identically to user messages. Pass the markdown string in the message content field and Discord renders it on each viewer's client. This is how scheduling bots and event-RSVP bots show times in every member's local zone.
Why does the relative timestamp (:R) show "in 0 seconds" sometimes?
The :R style picks the largest sensible unit (years, months, days, hours, minutes, seconds) and rounds. If your selected time is within a second or two of "now", the rendered value will tick between "in 0 seconds" and "now" until you cross the next minute boundary. Discord clients refresh :R timestamps every minute or so.
Can I generate a Discord countdown timer?
Discord doesn't have a true "timer" markdown — but the :R relative style is the closest thing. It self-updates on each viewer's client and shows phrases like "in 3 hours" or "5 minutes ago", so a future date with :R behaves like a live countdown for everyone reading.
