Spirit reunites Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga with Telugu superstar Prabhas in a violent, morally provocative cop drama set against the Mumbai drug-enforcement underworld. After Animal's polarizing Rs. 900 crore worldwide haul in 2023, Vanga has emerged as Bollywood's most commercially watched young director, and Spirit is his first project with a male lead other than Ranbir Kapoor.
Prabhas plays a hard-living anti-narcotics officer whose investigation collides with personal demons. The film is being produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures and is expected to lean further into Vanga's signature brutalist visual style and confrontational masculinity themes.
Spirit is expected to be a hard-R action drama in the vein of Animal, with extended action sequences, an extensive use of slow-motion violence, and a brooding lead performance from Prabhas. The pan-Indian release model — Hindi, Telugu, Tamil — is being modeled on KGF and Pushpa.
Spirit opens worldwide on March 5, 2027 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, with dubbed Malayalam and Kannada versions also planned.
