The clock above counts down to Ramayana: Part 2, the Diwali 2027 sequel to Nitesh Tiwari's mythological epic, completing the most ambitious Indian production ever.
Ramayana: Part 2 picks up immediately after Part 1's cliffhanger — the kidnapping of Sita by Ravana — and adapts the second half of Valmiki's epic, including Hanuman's leap to Lanka, the bridge of Rama-setu, the war at Lanka, and Rama's eventual return to Ayodhya. Director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra continue the Prime Focus and DNEG production line. Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol all reprise their roles.
The two-part release strategy mirrors what Christopher Nolan did with The Dark Knight and what Anthony and Joe Russo did with the Avengers Infinity Saga — releasing the back half almost exactly one year after the first installment. Diwali 2027 falls on November 8, 2027, providing the same auspicious release window that anchored Part 1.
Part 2 is expected to be the more action-driven half, with the war at Lanka acting as the centerpiece set piece. Hanuman's role is expected to be expanded significantly, with Sunny Deol delivering what has been hyped as the most ambitious wirework and CG combat in Indian cinema history. The closing sequence will adapt Rama's coronation and homecoming to Ayodhya.
Ramayana: Part 2 opens during the Diwali 2027 window in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada across India, with simultaneous international bookings.
