Time calculator

What time will it be in N hours?

Add or subtract minutes, hours, days, or weeks from this exact moment and see the resulting wall-clock time in your local zone, in UTC, and across eight major world cities. The calculation is DST-safe — we work in absolute time and only format at the end — and the displayed answer slides forward every second so it always matches the real clock. URLs are shareable, so you can drop a link like /tools/time-in/?hours=48 into a chat or email.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from adding hours in my calendar app?
Calendar apps anchor a future event to a specific wall clock time, so when DST shifts the offset, the meeting still happens at e.g. 9:00 local. This tool answers a different question: 'starting from this exact moment, what will the wall clock say after N hours of real elapsed time?' That is the right model for deadlines, SLAs, sleep timers, ETAs, and anything where the elapsed duration matters more than a recurring slot.
Does this handle daylight saving correctly?
Yes. The calculation is performed on absolute time (milliseconds since epoch) and only formatted into your local timezone at the end. So if you ask 'what time will it be in 24 hours' and DST springs forward in between, the result will land one wall-clock hour later than it would on a non-DST day, which is the physically correct answer.
How are timezones handled?
Your local timezone is detected via your browser (Intl.DateTimeFormat().resolvedOptions().timeZone) using the IANA database, so DST and historical rule changes are baked in. The world-cities table beneath the calculator shows the same future moment expressed in eight major IANA zones — useful when coordinating with teams or family abroad.
Why include seconds in the result?
Because for short intervals (a few minutes or hours) the seconds component is meaningful, and we recompute every second so the displayed future moment slides forward in real time as the clock ticks. If you only need the date and hour, the seconds are easy to ignore.
Business days versus calendar days?
This tool measures real elapsed time on the calendar — weekends and holidays are not skipped. If you need to count only business days for things like SLA deadlines, contract delivery dates, or court filings, use the date calculator's business-days mode, which respects weekends and (for several major countries) public holidays.
