Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix 2026

What this countdown tracks

The clock above counts down to the 2026 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix race weekend, June 5 to June 7, 2026, with the headline race on the Sunday around the streets of Monte Carlo.

About this event

The Monaco Grand Prix has been on the Formula 1 calendar since the championship's inaugural 1950 season and predates it by decades. The 3.337 km circuit threads through Monte Carlo's harbour district, climbs through Massenet to Casino Square, drops through the Mirabeau hairpins, and brushes the swimming pool barriers on the way back to the start-finish straight. Overtaking is famously rare; qualifying is essentially the race.

The 2026 edition opens the new Formula 1 regulation cycle, with smaller, lighter cars, 50/50 power unit hybridisation, and active aero elements that drop straight-line drag. Audi enters the championship as a full works engine and chassis manufacturer through Sauber's Hinwil base, Cadillac arrives as the eleventh team, and Honda returns with Aston Martin. Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull and Williams complete the grid in what the FIA calls the most significant F1 reset since the V6 hybrid era began in 2014.

What to expect

Monaco 2026 introduces a mandatory two-stop strategy retained from 2025 in an attempt to disrupt the procession that has hurt the race's reputation in recent years. Sprint format is not used. Qualifying on Saturday afternoon is, as ever, the decisive session: a clean lap on the simulator-tight street circuit is the closest thing to guaranteed points all season. Expect intense battles for Q3 places among midfield teams chasing the slim Sunday window for strategic overtakes.

Past results

  • 2025: Lando Norris won for McLaren after a strategic two-stop master-class.
  • 2024: Charles Leclerc won his home race for the first time, ending Ferrari's Monaco drought since 2001.
  • 2023: Max Verstappen won in mixed conditions for Red Bull.
  • 2022: Sergio Perez took victory after a chaotic wet start.
  • 2021: Max Verstappen won his first Monaco GP after Charles Leclerc's pole-day crash damage.

How to watch

In the UK the race is live on Sky Sports F1 with free-to-air highlights on Channel 4. The US broadcast is on ESPN and ESPN+. F1 TV Pro carries the race globally with onboard cameras and team radio. India is on F1 TV Pro and Star Sports Select. The 15:00 CEST lights-out is 14:00 BST, 09:00 ET, 18:30 IST, and 23:00 AEST.
